Jamaica records first Covid-19 death

The first death from the Covid-19 has been recorded in Jamaica. The island’s Ministry of Health made the announcement this afternoon. The victim is a 79-year-old man from Clarendon. He died at the isolation facility at the Mandeville Regional Hospital after his condition started to deteriorate.

The man who had diabetes and hypertension lived in the United States and tested positive for the disease today. He was being prepared to be transferred to the University Hospital of the West Indies when he died.

Two more positive cases have also been confirmed, bringing the country’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases to 15.
