A 27 year old Jamaican national is under police guard at hospital after he was beaten by residents of Lion Drive, Orange Grove Road, Chase Village on Monday for allegedly being caught sexually penetrating a 14 year old girl.

The residents detained the suspect and later contacted the Freeport Police Station.

Officers responded and took both the bleeding suspect and his victim to hospital for medical observation.

The suspect was subsequently admitted to hospital and remains under the watch of Child Protection Unit officers.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Monday, a 63 year old Belmont man has been arrested after the parents of a 13 year old girl reported that the man sexually assaulted their 13 year old daughter.

The man, said to be a family friend, was detained after police received a call about an assault at Small Street, Success Village, Laventille.

Upon their arrival they found the suspect bleeding, and the child’s parents revealed the abuse allegation.

They told police they came to understand that the incident took place sometime in June 2020, and also reported that the man told the girl he would harm her and her family if she shared the assault with anyone.

The child’s parents were taken to the Belmont Police Station where a formal report was made.
