Jay-Z wins US $7 million in lawsuit

By Shirvan Williams

Jay-Z nearly has been awarded USD $7 million in unpaid royalties for his fragrance Gold Jay Z by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Andrew Borrok.

Borrok ruled yesterday (August 25) that the perfume company Parlux owes Jay-Z $6.78 million in unpaid royalties, including interest. The decision was a blow for Parlux who lost a 2016 $68 million lawsuit in October after they accused the rapper of failing to promote the perfume under the terms of their 2012 contract.

In February an appeals court ruled that Parlux should make royalty payments going back to 2015, leaving the amount to be determined by Borrok. Parlux has already filed an appeal of Borrok’s ruling.
