Kaiso House Rebrands to D’Kaiso Dynasty

By Newsroom

In an attempt to bring back the audience, the Calypso tent, once known as Kaiso House, has rebranded itself. D’Kaiso Dynasty will be officially launched on Thursday, February 13th at the ballroom of the Radisson Hotel on Wrightson Road in Port of Spain.

The lineup for the tent will feature all the sub genres of Calypso, including ex-tempo, soca, chutney and even the Zess derivative represented by Yung Bredda.

“Calypso has given birth to a number of genres including reggae and Jamaicans had the confidence to push their national identity forward and this is what we need,’ Melissa Williams-Campbell explained in a brief interview.

“The distinct competitive advantage lies in the ability to be the best version of ourselves and our cultural product is second to none,” she further explained.

“Why the Radisson Ballroom?” we asked.

“We are looking to rebrand, for audience expansion to get back that crowd that left the tents,” she said, while noting that the executive of the Trinbago Unified Calypso Organisation, TUCO, had to ask the hard questions about why the audience declined. Judges will visit the tent on Saturday night to select semi finalists.
