KES Releases Live Album, “We Home”

By Lillian Searles

For the first time in over five years, KES has delivered their first new full-length album with the live project “We Home”, released on August 28.

Mixed by renowned engineer Dexter Simmons who has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, “We Home” is the first major soca release since the COVID-19 virus outbreak began.

On Independence Day, August 31, KES presented a 1-hour TV special, KES LIVE, airing across nine Caribbean countries in partnership with CCN’s TV6.

The broadcast was also aired in Africa on Trace TV; on Kes’ YouTube channel at youtube.com/keslive and across the band’s social media channels.

“The live show is key to our entire brand,” vocalist Kees Dieffenthaller said, “But the live experience is something we never truly captured before [on record].”

“We Home” continues a banner year for KES, which launched with a massively successful campaign at Trinidad’s 2020 Carnival in February. The band not only won the annual International Soca Monarch competition — the Super Bowl of Caribbean music — with their Iwer George collaboration “Stage Gone Bad” but also captured the coveted Road March title, given to the song played the most times during the Carnival parade.
