Three suspected thieves were killed by police in the Mayaro district last night.

The men had allegedly been posing as customers as they attempted to rob a KFC driver who was called to deliver to a residence at Mischier Road.

The driver was relieved of his items including cash and a cell phone.

Police were contacted and the three were later confronted at a nearby beach house.

The identities of the deceased men have not yet been released by police. 

Meanwhile, an investigation is continuing into a separate police-involved shooting in the Santa Cruz area last Friday, in which one man was killed.

Twenty-one-year-old Antonio Matthew was killed as officers attempted to conduct a raid on a house. The deceased allegedly fired at the officers first, prompting them to return fire.

A silver Beretta pistol was recovered from the suspect.
