KFC Implements Price Increase

By Newsroom

Attributing its decision to significant rises in the price of raw materials including flour, KFC has trickled some of those prices burdens to its consumers, increasing some of its menu items by $1.50 to $6.

CEO of Prestige Holdings , Simon Hardy, said the move was a balanced approach with the franchise incurring rising wholesale prices for oil, chicken, imported goods and flour.

The price increase comes on the heels of the National Flour Mills implementing an 33% hike in the price of flour for wholesalers, while retailers will pay 28% more.

The company said it was possible prices could be readjusted in the next 12-18 months, should the current global food price increase be alleviated.

Last July, KFC increased of its prices and also increased its delivery fee to $20.

In March of this year, the company went a step further, telling customers they would have to pay $2 extra for condiments.

That decision was quickly reversed less than a month later, following heavy backlash from consumers.
