Kim Kardashian-West is reportedly ending her almost-seven-year marriage to Kanye West.

The rapper’s 2020 presidential campaign and explosive Twitter rants, often targeted at his wife and her family, were reportedly “the final straw” for Kim and made her realize she “needed to end the marriage for the sake of her kids and her own sanity,” according to a source who spoke to Page Six.

Even after calling Kris Jenner “Kris Jong-Un” on Twitter and claiming that the famous family was trying to force him into psychiatric treatment, Kim often spoke out in defence of her husband, who has stirred controversy at times.

“I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions,” she wrote in a statement shared on social media. “He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions.”

Sources have confirmed that West has been living at their home in Wyoming in recent months, while his wife stayed in California with their children.

“December was a rough month for Kim,” a source told People Magazine. “She has been living separately from Kanye. Over the holidays, it was hard for her to stay positive. She has been trying her best, though, for the kids. She stayed in Los Angeles for New Year’s. Kourtney and Khloé were around to support her. She is very grateful to have her sisters to lean on.” 

The two stars, who first met in the early 2000s, married in a lavish wedding in Italy in 2014, and are the parents of four children.

“She just feels she has done everything in her power to make her marriage work. Even though she has been thinking about divorce for months, she hasn’t filed because she feels terrible for the kids.”

For now, she plans to remain at the family’s Hidden Hills, California home to “provide a safe and stable environment for the kids.” 

After a number of fans noticed she hasn’t had her engagement ring on for months, she’s also once again started wearing it. While visiting her grandmother this week, Kim was photographed wearing the wedding band.
