Laws Coming To Enforce COVID-19 Bans

By Newsroom

The government will take “very limited” legislation to the Parliament tomorrow, to enforce the various bans announced in response to COVID-19.

During Thursday’s Post Cabinet media briefing, National Security Minister Stuart Young said: “There are going to be public health ordinance regulations to stop the opening of bars; allowing restaurants to serve food with no in house dining, as well as dealing with casinos and other member clubs.”

When the bans were initially announced on Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley used moral suasion to urge business owners to adhere to the restrictions, however, several places across the country have been operating as normal.

Friday’s sitting of the House of Representatives is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm.
