The Hunters Search and Rescue Team has confirmed that the body of nine-year-old Majeed Rasheeda was recovered on Sunday morning. 

The child was visiting the Aripo River with relatives on Saturday when he was swept away by waters. 

In a statement to its official Facebook on Sunday, the rescue group posted the following:

“The body of nine (9) year old MAJEED RASHEEDA( COOKIE) has just been recovered. It was not the outcome we were hoping for but GOD KNOWS BEST: We commiserate with the family, friends and love ones.

“We thank all those involved in the effort. The Police Officers of the Arima Police led by Inspector Jugmohan,the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services, Ag. Inspector Ronny Rampallard of the TTPS Air Support Unit, who arrived early this morning, the family and friends. SLEEP IN PEACE COOKIE.”
