A 33-year-old man is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate on Wednesday to answer to sexual and drug charges against a female minor.

The suspect, a joiner of Diego Martin, was held by officers of the Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) and Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Saturday.

He was charged with four counts of sexual penetration of a child and two counts of giving narcotics to a child.

The arrest comes following a comprehensive investigation by WPC Spencer of the Western Division CPU into a report surrounding the alleged assault and drugging of a 15-year-old girl.

According to the victim’s account, during the period April 2020 – July 2020 she alleged she was made to have sexual intercourse with the man at his home.

The victim also told police that she was made to smoke marijuana on two occasions.

The suspect was subsequently charged on Tuesday and will appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today, to answer to the charges.
