The TTPS has disclosed that a 27-year-old man from Old Mayaro Road, Rio Claro is expected to be charged for the double murder of Andrea Lallan, 13 and her uncle Sylyan Lallan which occurred on September 29th, 2023, in Rio Claro.

He will also answer to an additional charge of Attempted Murder and Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

According to the TTPS, the charges will be laid after investigators received advice from Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Roger Gaspard on Saturday 7th October, 2023. According to police, around 2:10 am on Friday 29th September 2023, a call was made to the Rio Claro Police Station of a Report of shooting, and persons were being conveyed to the Rio Claro Health Facility.

A/Cpl Sookwah and PC Mahabir responded and on arrival at the Rio Claro Health Center, met victim Eddie Lallan,51 years old, father of the 13-year-old deceased of Old Mayaro Road, Rio Claro, who reported that there was a shooting at his home, and that other victims were still at the scene.

The party of officers proceeded to Old Mayaro Road, Libertville, Rio Claro, and on arrival at the home, they found the deceased. An investigative team from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Two, under the supervision of Head of Homicide, Snr. Supt. Rishi Singh, ASP Victor, Insp. Ramjag and Sgt Ramsahi Singh continued diligent investigations and the suspect was later arrested.

The investigative team presented the facts before the DPP who advised that the suspect be charged.
