Man charged with sexual penetration of a minor

A 33-year-old man from Moriah was granted $70,000 bail when he appeared before a Scarborough Magistrate, charged with sexual penetration of a minor. The offence is alleged to have occurred between the period September 2018 and November 2018.

He went before Magistrate Debby Ann Bassaw, in the Scarborough Magistrates’ First Court, yesterday December 7 2021. He was granted bail with a surety. He was also ordered to stay away from the boy and refrain from communicating with the child by any means and is to report to the Moriah Police Station once per week.

According to the police reports the child’s mother reported that she took him to seek medical attention in September 2021, as a result of bed wetting and problems passing stool. She said when she questioned him, he stated a man known to him, played with his penis and touched him on his buttocks.

Following the report, an investigation was launched into the incident which led to the man’s arrest last Saturday, December 4. Investigations were supervised by W/Supt. Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP (Ag.) Roberts and Sgt. Miller of the Child Protection Unit.
