Maraval man charged with Drug Trafficking

A Maraval man has been charged with various offences arising from an alleged drug trafficking incident. The 40-year-old-man, PIERRE A LOUIS PANTIN was charged last Sunday 2nd October 2022. He is expected to appear at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court after he was formally charged with the offences of Trafficking in a Dangerous Drug namely cocaine, Forgery of a Trinidad and Tobago Drivers Permit and Uttering a Forged Document namely a forged Trinidad and Tobago Drivers Permit.

According to the TTPS, the charges were laid by Ag Cpl Bernard of the Special Investigations Unit.

It was firther stated that: “On October 27th, 2020 a man went to an international shipping company, where he allegedly shipped a binder containing documents to an address in Canada. On the said day, officers from the Special Investigations Unit went to the shipping company located in Port of Spain, where they examined the package and found a quantity of cocaine concealed within the lining of the binder.

The officers conducted enquires which revealed that the name, address and identification documents utilized by the shipper were fake. Further enquiries were conducted, persons were interviewed, information was received and on Thursday 29th September 2022, an intelligence led exercise was conducted in the Western Division under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Intelligence Bureau, Joseph Chandool.”

The cocaine seized weighed 27.68 grams, with an estimated street value of $110,720.
Investigations are continuing.
