Mask Wearing Still Mandatory For Prison Visits

By Newsroom

Visitors to any prison institution must continue to wear a mask, even as the national mask mandate has been lifted.

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service says this decision was made considering the vulnerability of the environment in which its operations are carried out.

“Following the lifting of the masking mandate that went into effect on July 17, 2022, the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service is advising that in an effort to lower the risks of both staff and charges from contamination, they are encouraged to continue to wear masks within the prisons, whilst persons entering/visiting any prison institution must wear a mask,” the Prison Service said in a statement.

“With the health, safety and well-being of staff and charges being of paramount importance, attempts to minimize any such risks must be maintained,” it ended.
