Met Office Issues Adverse Weather Alert, Destructive Showers Recorded Across T&T

Heavy showers and gusty winds recorded across Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday morning have resulted in several reports of fallen trees and in some instances- roofs being blown off.

Port of Spain Corporation workers were tasked with removing trees which fell at Independence Square and the Queen’s Park Savannah, in the vicinty of Queen’s Royal College.

Electricity is also reportedly down in some areas, including parts of Morvant.

This as a Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert issued by the Met Office at 7:15am on Saturday is expected to last until 2pm.

Showers are forecast to continue heading into the afternoon with some cloudy breaks.

Seas are forecast to remain agitated as we progress through the day, up to 2.5 meters in open waters, at times u to 3.0 meters by Sunday.
