It was not just that Nikki Minaj promised a verse for Trinidad Killa’s revamped version of Eskimo. More than that she had a chat with the Brooklyn-based singer whose “government” name is Kern Joseph who illegally jumped on the Big Links Riddim without permission almost two weeks ago, creating the first real “bacchanal” of the 2025 Carnival Season.
Trinidad Killa has since apologised, but Nikki Minaj had a few words of advice for him :
“Make choices when you don’t choose your ego. Choose humility. The universe will open itself and you will watch your blessings flow,” she told him during an Instagram Live that was obviously staged since they both had a chat earlier in the day.
“I love the couragement, I appreciate what you tell me today,” Killa said to her while promising that “from today I will try to be a better person. I really want to do the music and stay on the music,” he said.
Minaj already has given a drop to Trinidad Killa and has offered a verse for Eskimo” which has been released on the Bigger Links Riddum produced by Joseph Figueroa, also known by his Instagram handle @okayprontoblog.
“God’s time is always the right time” adding “I know you guys had to do a new beat, and I love the new version,” she said. The Official video, which was released on Monday garnered just over 150,000 views twelve hours later.
Eskimo, the legal version was released after Killa landed himself in trouble for hopping on the Big Links Riddum which features Yung Bredda, Kes and Machel Montano, without permission from the producers Full Blown Entertainment.
After his original audio was pulled down from YouTube, Killa apologised and then placed the same song on another riddum. “The drums are hard af,” Minaj told Killa during the Instagram Live. Eskimo is hugely popular with the New York diaspora.
