Ministry of Health (MoH) Receives donation of 5,000 Blood Pressure Monitors from the Government of the People’s Republic of China

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has received a donation of 5,000 Blood Pressure Monitors from the Government of the People’s Republic of China during a handover ceremony held at the Ministry’s Head Office, yesterday.

According to a MoH release,

The donation of the 5,000 blood pressure monitors forms part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2018, between the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on Strengthening Cooperation in Medicine and Health. The MOU also includes academic exchange programs in cardiovascular diseases with the intent to strengthen and improve the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, trauma and related health issues.

Participating in the ceremonial handover were His Excellency Fang Qiu, Ambassador Extraordinary of the People’s Republic of China, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health and Senator, the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne – Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.

At the ceremony, Minister Deyalsingh noted that this year marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Trinidad and Tobago and the People’s Republic of China, and thanked His Excellency Fang Qiu for his support. The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh also expressed his gratitude to the Beijing Municipal Cooperation of Health and the Anzhen Hospital for the intended outcomes of the bi-lateral agreement, which will positively impact the Public Health Sector in Trinidad and Tobago.
