Ministry of National Security Offering $75,000 Reward for Missing Defence Force Rifle

The Ministry of National Security is offering a $75,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of persons responsible for the disappearance of a rifle from a Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force compound.

The Ministry has disclosed that according to police reports, around 1pm on June 3rd 2023, an officer attached to the Tetron Barracks, Chaguaramas signed for an AR rifle, which he received and subsequently secured. The officer then left the Tetron compound and returned sometime later, when he discovered that the rifle was missing.

Extensive checks were made; however, the weapon was not found. A report was subsequently made. A team of officers from the TTPS visited the scene at the Tetron compound, where several persons were interviewed.

Investigations are continuing.
