Works Ministry: $375K To Repair Asphalt Surface Following Fiery Barrackpore Protests

By Newsroom

Responding to this morning’s fiery protest staged by angry Barrackpore residents over what they say are deplorable road conditions, the Ministry of Works and Transport says some of the issues, namely at the Rochard Douglas Road, is due to localized failures by the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).

The Ministry says, however, that the condition of the Papourie and St. Croix Roads are of concern, adding it is  currently working to address rehabilitation of both sites in the shortest possible time.

This morning’s protest, which saw large amounts of debris being burned on the roadway, has incurred a repair cost of $375,000
