MP Padarath Asks For Update On Report Into T&TEC Power Outage

By Newsroom

Opposition MP Barry Padarath is calling on government to reveal the status of an investigation into the 12 hour power outage which happened in Trinidad back in February.

Mr. Padarath asks if a report has been submitted to the government and whether the public can expect the findings to be made public.

The MP stated that the move to abort the inquiry into the blackout by the Government members in the Public Administration and Appropriation Committee in March undermines the public interest in this matter and “was a clear indication that the government did not have the political will or intention to share with the population the real reasons for the twelve-hour blackout.”

While a three-man committee was appointed to thoroughly investigate the incident, preliminary reports from T&TEC showed there was no sabotage.
