Municipal Corporations Prepare For Adverse Weather Conditions

By Newsroom

A Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert which came into effect at 5 o clock this morning will remain in place for Trinidad and Tobago until 8pm on Thursday.

This is linked to severe weather associated with an active tropical wave. The T&T Met Office says gusty winds in excess of 70 kilometres per hour are expected, along with as much as 125 millimetres of rainfall.

There will be periods of lull between bursts of thundershowers.

Meanwhile, Local Government Minister Faris Al Rawi has met with the Disaster Management Units at all 14 Municipal Corporations, in anticipation of adverse weather conditions today and tomorrow.

Members of the public are encouraged to approach their respective Corporations for distribution of sandbags if necessary, as well as to report issues that may lead to blockage of roadways and water courses which may pose a risk to life and property.
