Nineteen-year-old ALVA GIBBS, of Upper Lanse Mitan, Carenage, has been charged with the murder of Ricardo Galeis and is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate later today.

The charges were laid following advice received from the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs Dougdeen-Jaglal, on Monday 11th September 2023.

According to the TTPS, Gale, 35, of East Dry River, Port of Spain, was conducting sales in the Woodbrook district on Friday 18th August, 2023, when he was approached by two men and an altercation ensued.

During the incident, one of the men allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim several times. The assailants then made their escape. The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment where he subsequently died of his injuries on Thursday 24th August, 2023.

One male suspect was arrested in connection with the incident on Tuesday 5th September, 2023, by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region One. Investigations were supervised by W/ASP (Ag.) Bridglal, Insp. Lynch, Sgts. Ramsumair and Ramroop and Cpl (Ag.) Subiah, all of HBI Region One.

Gibbs was charged with the offence by PC Mc Intosh, also of HBI Region One, on Monday 11th September, 2023.
