Police shot and killed a young man in Sea Lots this afternoon, triggering outrage in the community.

The deceased has been identified as 19 year old Jerome Hospedales.

Initial police reports claim that Hospedales, of Production Avenue, Sea Lots, pointed a firearm at officers who were on patrol in the area, prompting them to shoot at him.

The young man was taken to the Port of Spain General hospital, where he died while receiving emergency treatment.

Investigators say one pistol was recovered from the scene.
