A New Grant woman was denied bail when she appeared before the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday, charged with poisoning her 13-year-old son.

The child was served the meal of curried chicken and rice at his home last Thursday when he fell sick.

He was immediately rushed to the Princes Town District Hospital.

Hema Manbodhsingh, 43, faces a total of three charges, including attempted murder.

She will reappear in court next Wednesday.

The incident is alleged to have happened after the woman got into an argument with the child.

The child is still recovering at hospital.
