No Special Treatment For Bolt, Says Jamaican PM

By Newsroom

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness says a police investigation has been launched into a birthday bash held by star Olympian Usain Bolt last Friday, which allegedly failed to follow proper social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines.

The investigation comes after it was revealed on Monday that the star Olympian tested positive for the virus.

Prime Minister Holness warned that the star athlete will not benefit from any special treatment in the process.

“No one is going to be treated with any exemption, so all Jamaicans have a duty, and those who have public ear and influence in the public sphere have an even greater (responsibility),” Holness said during a virtual press conference on Monday.

Bolt, who was celebrating his 34th birthday last Friday at the Football Factory in Kingston, tested for COVID-19 on Saturday as he was due to travel for an overseas business trip this week.
