NWRHA Breaks Silence Over Mom’s Death Following C-Section

By Newsroom

The North-West Regional Health Authority has issued a statement on the tragic death of  Sherise Williams, who suffered a fatal fall at the Port of Spain General Hospital on Tuesday, suggesting it had done all it could to avoid the woman’s death.

Williams, 30, had given birth to her baby girl on Monday and was reportedly attempting to walk to the washroom when she fell.

The incident has pointed fingers to the NWRHA, as relatives questioned why the young mother had not been accompanied to the restroom given her vulnerable state.

Breaking its silence via a statement on Thursday afternoon, the NWRHA claimed that Ms. Williams was advised not to attempt to walk- an order it claims she overlooked.
