The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard intercepted a vessel crossing the border from Venezuela into Trinidad in the waters south-west of Icacos on Thursday while conducting border security patrols. 

Onboard of the vessel identified as ‘FV’ ZAFRULLA III’ were two male Trinidad and Tobago Nationals. 

The vessel had previously been observed in Venezuelan waters.

The crew was interviewed and it was revealed that the vessel contained a large cargo of shrimp and fish, purchased from Venezuelans. 

The vessel was detained and its crew and cargo were handed over to representatives of the TTPS, Customs and Excise Division and Immigration Division. 

Investigations are continuing.
