Offset Records Being Pulled Over On IG Live

By Lillian Searles

Offset was seen on his Instagram Live on Saturday refusing to leave his car as officers were responding to a complaint about him brandishing a weapon in his vehicle.

Offset, 28, whose name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, livestreamed his police dealings on Instagram at just after 5 p.m. Saturday. In the video, he is pulled over and seated in a vehicle, during which, a male and a female police officer approach him.

“I’m not doing that, I’m not doing that. Because you’ve got guns out,” Offset is heard saying in response to the officer’s request for him to turn off his vehicle. “I’m not going to move my hands from my steering wheel.”

“We were told that you guys were waving guns,” the female officer then says.

“You know who I am? Offset from the Migos. They got fans, that’s why they’re following me,” Offset says.

“That has nothing to do with why we’re here,” the female officer replies. “We were told that you guys were waving guns at people.”

“You just watched somebody beat my car up with a flag. What are you talking about?” he replies. “You told me to put my hands up, I’m not doing that…. There’s 25,000 people on my live. You’re going to get sued publicly.”

The Live then cuts out, and Offset was in fact detained and forced to exit his car.

Police said they received information from a passerby about a person who pointed a weapon at him from a vehicle in Beverly Hills. The passerby provided a license plate, and patrol units stopped the vehicle and investigated.

Footage also showed Offset’s wife, hip hop artiste Cardi B, standing and shouting a short distance away at the officers detaining her husband.

“He’s not armed! My husband is not armed!” Cardi yelled while being held back. She continued asking why officers were pointing guns at Offset, saying he was unarmed, and telling the people restraining her to let her record what was happening.

A Beverly Hills police report reads that Cardi B’s cousin, Marcelo Almanzar, was arrested for possession of a concealed loaded weapon, and Offset was detained and then later released that same day. The report also clarified that Offset was not arrested, however, he was placed in handcuffs.

“But Offset was not arrested,” Beverly Hills Police Sgt. A. Alatorre told Southern California Local Newshouses on Saturday. “We made an arrest but it was not him,” she said.
