One man was arrested and a high-powered rifle was seized by officers of the Port of Spain Division, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Charlieville district yesterday.

According to the TTPS, the exercise was conducted between 12 noon and 8 pm, on Tuesday 13th September 2022 by officers of the Port of Spain Criminal Investigations Department Operations Team.

Acting on information received, the officers proceeded to a house at Cemetery Street, Charlieville, where they executed a search warrant for illegal firearms. The search resulted in one AR-15 rifle and 10 rounds of 5.56 ammunition being found and seized. A male suspect who was in the house at the time of the exercise was arrested in connection with the find.

Investigations are ongoing.
