Officers of the Southern Division have seized a high-powered automatic weapon and ammunition. One man was arrested in connection with the seizure, during a firearms removal exercise, yesterday October 17, 2022.

According to the TTPS, officers executed a search warrant at a house located at New City Avenue, Marabella. While searching the premises, the officers found and seized one AR-15 rifle, fitted with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.

A 61-year-old labourer was arrested for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Richard Smith, Supt. Carthy, ASP Jaikaran and Insp. Phillip, and was supervised by Sgt. Joseph, Sgt. Mason, Ag/Cpl Bahadur, Ag/Cpl Lancaster and included officers of the Southern Division Task Force.

Investigations are continuing.
