One man is dead following a shootout with police which occurred earlier today along Wrightson Road. The incident is said to have caused traffic to come to a standstill in the Woodbrook area.

According to reports, the TTPS responded to reports of a possible kidnapping in the Western Division when the suspect fired on the officers. They gave chase on Wrightson Road in the vicinity of the UTT John Donaldson campus and there was an exchange of gunfire. The injured suspect was taken to hospital to seek medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
