One Remaining COVID-19 Patient on the High Dependency Unit At The Couva Hospital

While there’s just one COVID-19 patient remaining at the Couva that person is now in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).  Otherwise, the statistics, as provided by the Ministry of Health,  continue to look promising. There are five persons in the step-down facility at the Home of Football which is also located in Couva all of whom are regarded as low risk, stable patients.

Altogether there are 69  persons- who flew in from Suriname – under quarantine at the UWI- South Debe Campus. Additionally, the 33  persons who were quarantined after arrival from Barbados two weeks ago at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua will be discharged today. Sixteen health care workers are quarantined at the hotel facility at the  Port of Spain based  National Academy For The Performing Arts, NAPA.

 There were 2055 samples submitted to CARPHA and the UWI site testing of which 1733 are unique patient tests and 332 repeated tests. The number of positive samples remains at 116 with eight deaths. A total of 102  patients have been discharged. Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) Dr Roshan Parasram said on Tuesday morning that 471 tests in Community Surveillance, all of which were negative. “While on the surface it seems that we are doing well so far, it is important that we keep testing so that we are not missing something that is hidden out there,” the CMO warned.
