By Newsroom

Following National Security Minister Stuart Young’s announcement on Friday that the ‘stay at home’ order will be extended by two weeks until April 30th, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar is encouraging citizens to obey the new regulations.

In a statement on Saturday, she said “as the health authorities have continuously warned, our already seriously beleaguered health sector simply cannot cope with any further spread of the coronavirus.” She also made a specific plea to parents, to keep their children safe, after Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram revealed that a child was among the now 100 confirmed cases.

Persons found violating the order are reminded that they can face a fine of $50,000 or imprisonment.

Mrs. Persad Bissessar ended by thanking essential workers for their continued sacrifice during this time.
