Overnight chill

By Newsroom

Another cool night in Trinidad but no record was set.

The Met Office says it measured a minimum temperature of 19.7°C at its Piarco Office.

But the temperature could have been even lower in other parts of the country.

The all-time record for minimum temperature in  January is 16.1 Celsius while the minimum average is 21.7C.

Last night was, however, below, average.

“A combination of low atmospheric moisture, cloudless skies, near calm winds and a few other factors, made it possible for the temperature to drop below the average,” the Met Office reported.

“This is the second time for the month that temperatures went below the 20°C mark. the other occurrence was on the 4th of January when a temperature of 19.5°C was recorded,” the Met office said.
