Police Constable Nicholson George, who was suspended from the TTPS after an investigation was opened into his conduct during an incident with a female traffic warden this week, has been hit with six charges following advice from the DPP’s office.

-Failing to comply with directions of Traffic Warden

-Failing to produce driver’s permit to Uniformed Police Officer

On Monday, the female traffic warden was on foot patrol along Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain when she attempted to stop PC George of the Special Investigations Unit.

The officer- who was off duty at the time- is alleged to have not been wearing his seatbelt and was talking on his cellular phone.

The traffic warden requested the officer’s insurance and driver’s permit. He handed over his insurance but refused to comply.

Video footage of the exchange subsequently went viral online, and saw the officer attempting to bundle the woman into his private vehicle. He was suspended from duty and an investigation launched by Police Commissioner Erla Christopher the same day.
