PCA: Cops Possibly Breached Law In Rich Plain Mosque Raid

By Newsroom

The Police Complaints Authority says its investigation has revealed that the TTPS breached laws when it raided the Masjid al Hudaa in Rich Plain, Diego Martin, back in April.

It went further to say officers assaulted members of the Islamic community who were in the mosque at the time, and desecrated the place of worship.

“This investigation also revealed that the party of officers involved in the exercise that ultimately led to the death of No. 18464 PC Clarence Gilkes on 22nd April, 2022 at upper Richplain Road, Diego Martin was involved in the egregious acts at the Masjid,” the PCA further revealed in a statement on Monday.

The matter has now been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Commissioner of Police. The file was also shared with the Attorney General’s Office.
