PCA Investigates Deaths Of Leading Suspects In Andrea Bharatt Case

The Police Complaints Authority has launched an investigation into the deaths of two leading suspects in the kidnapping and murder of Andrea Bharatt.

Andrew Morris and Joel Balcon both died at hospital one week apart, after being detained by police last Sunday.

Balcon, who died yesterday, had been in the ICU at the Mt. Hope Hospital for several days after he was subdued by officers for allegedly attempting to escape custody.

In addition to the investigation into the police service’s handling of suspects in the Andrea Bharatt case, the PCA says it also intends to open an investigation into allegations that officers have consistently failed to tender evidence and attend court hearing matters as needed, thus slowing down the wheels of justice.

The PCA will also investigate the arrest of DSS founder, Kerron Preeze Clarke at his La Horquetta home last Saturday, to determine whether the arresting officers had reasonable basis to support their action.
