PDP Proposes Shared Government With PNM

By Newsroom

The Progressive Democratic Party is proposing a shared government with the People’s National Movement in Tobago, with both parties holding responsibilities in the executive of the THA.

The interim proposal, made by the PDP’s Farley Augustine, follows a meeting between  Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and the 12 elected assembly men on Wednesday morning.

“We are willing to give to the other side, the PNM, the positions of Presiding Officer and Chief Secretary. But we must get Deputy Chief Secretary and Secretary of Finance, along with two of the three councillors allocated to the Executive and we will split the remaining Secretarial positions down the middle,” he said.

Mr. Augustine said the arrangement could stand until the Tobago Autonomy Bill goes before the Parliament.
