Pennywise Closes La Romaine Branch Today Following Deadly Robbery Incident

By Newsroom

Pennywise Cosmetics Limited says its La Romaine branch will remain closed on Tuesday, following Monday’s harrowing robbery attempt in which two security guards were killed and a third hospitalized.

“The board of directors, management and staff would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims. Due to these circumstances, our La Romain Plaza branch will remain closed tomorrow (Tuesday) as a sign of respect and so that our staff may get some time to focus on their mental health,” the company said in a statement on Monday night.

Four perpetrators were later killed by police, after they were found hiding out at a house at Pond Street.

The suspects shot and killed two security guards, Jeffrey Peters and Jerry Baptiste, at the Pennywise compound in Bel-Air, La Romaine around 5pm.

A female guard was also injured and is listed in critical condition.

In Monday’s bizarre sequence of events, the suspects fled the scene in a stolen white Nissan Sylphy, later abandoning that vehicle and stealing another, before hiding out inside a house at Pond Street in La Romaine.

There, the four men were killed on the spot by police.

Acting Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob says cops recovered three AR-15 rifles and one pistol from the scene.
