Permission granted for The Worldwide Rally to Freedom march at the Queens Park Savannah

Mr. Umar Abdullah has been granted permission by the TTPS to host and observe “The Worldwide Rally to Freedom”. The permission was granted by Acting Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob.

The event is expected to take place tomorrow January, 22 at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of- Spain. In a statement, the TTPS stated that Mr. Abdullah has confirmed receipt of the correspondence approving the public march.

“Although permission has been granted for the public march, the Acting Commissioner would like to remind all persons that Trinidad and Tobago continues to battle against COVID-19, where 1,063 new cases were recorded yesterday. As such the need to comply with Public Health [2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)] Regulations, 2022, where it is stated that the said public march should be no more than two hundred and fifty (250) persons in number, practicing social distancing and sanitization methods,” the statement further noted.

The Acting CoP also advised that there should be strict adherence to Regulation 3 of the Public Health [2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)] Regulations 2022 and as such there should be no gathering of persons in excess of ten (10) people.

“Therefore, the public march should be organized in clusters of no more than ten (10) persons, the total not to exceed two hundred and fifty (250) persons. In addition, all persons in attendance are required to wear face masks, face shields or face coverings in a manner covering nose, mouth and chin, in compliance with Regulation 5.” of the Public Health [2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV0] Regulations, 2022.”

Police will be present to monitor the march.
