Pfizer Vaccine Approved For Pregnant Women In Second, Third Trimester

By Newsroom

Pregnant women who are past their first trimester will likely be permitted to take the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

The consideration follows consultation held with the Ministry of Health and its stakeholders on Tuesday.

At Wednesday’s Covid-19 media briefing, Epidemiologist Dr. Avery Hinds said details of this roll out will be announced in the near future.

“After reviewing the scientific information as well as presentations by PAHO/WHO there was universal consensus that the Ministry is indeed in a position to recommend the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant women beyond the first trimester of pregnancy,” Dr. Hinds said.

Director of the Directorate of Women’s Health, Dr Adesh Sirjusingh, is expected to lead the charge in detailing the rollout for this group.
