Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has defended efforts to amend the structure of the Coat of Arms, saying there’s “no question of unnecessarily engaging in millions of dollars to make the change”.
At a Post Cabinet news conference this afternoon, Dr. Rowley said the process will be a transitional one, while denying the move was meant to score political points.
Designer Gillian Bishop has also been hired to create potential designs for the new Coat of Arms.
For products bearing the Coat of Arms including our currency, the crest on the Defence Force and the emblem on doors of vehicles, both the new and old emblem will co-exist until the latter is completely phased out.
The matter will go to the Parliament for the change to be effected at the new session.
