By Newsroom

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley can now leave isolation at the official Blenheim residence in Tobago, after a second Covid-19 test conducted on Tuesday returned a consecutive negative result.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister on Tuesday afternoon read: “This brings to an end the Prime Minister’s isolation at the official residence in Blenheim under the supervision of the healthcare professionals from the Tobago Regional Health Authority.”

OPM said Dr Rowley extends his deepest gratitude to the medical team who provided expert care during this period.

“The Prime Minister thanks the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago who prayed for his well-being and offered kind words of support over the last three weeks.”

“He also acknowledges those from the region and the wider international community who expressed concern and sent messages of hope for his speedy recovery,” it stated.

Dr. Rowley, who tested positive for the virus on April 6th- one day before he was due to receive his first dose of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine, will now have to wait at least six months before he can be inoculated, in keeping with the advice from the World Health Organization.
