Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has expressed concern over a sizable sect of the population failing to wear masks properly, thus eliminating the protection the gear provides.
Speaking at Saturday’s Covid-19 press briefing, he said he has become aware that many people were wearing the masks only to avoid the law, but were not actually protecting themselves.
“When I came back from Tobago, I remember passing seven gentlemen having a lime…and all were masked, but all seven masks were below chins. Now if they were accosted by officers during the SoE they just pull it up over the nose. And I presume, for comfort, as soon as the officer is gone, they take the mask off,” Dr. Rowley lamented.
“Remember, if your mask is not covering your nose and your mouth- particularly your nose- you are not masked,” the PM said.
Current legislation dictates that masks must be warn in all public spaces, whether alone or in groups.
