PM Warns Point Fortin Residents- “Don’t Be Fooled By Their Election Promises”

By Newsroom

As government delivered the long awaited Point Fortin Hospital on Saturday, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley cautioned residents not to be swayed by the promises being offered by his opponents during this election season.

“Point Fortin, I’m talking to you now. You got your shopping list dealt with. You got your portion of the $2.6 billion. You are in line to have hundreds of persons work in this place to give you modern healthcare. So you listen to me now, very carefully- there are people telling you that they’re going to cancel this tax, and cancel that tax…and I will give you this and I will give you that. Well let me tell you something. That is not proper public policy,” Dr. Rowley said in his address.

The general election will be held on Monday, August 10th, 2o2o.

Referencing political parties touting promises of reducing taxes, he urged the community to be vigilant: “Anyone coming to tell you that their election campaign is based on eliminating taxes that we agreed on- and that is not onerous- dem is people to watch,” he cautioned.

The newly completed Point Fortin Hospital, which began construction in 2015, was completed at a price tag of $1.2 billion, with funding from an Austrian bank.

The three-storey building will have 100 beds comprising 26 for internal medicine, 24 for general surgery, ten for gynaecology, 15 for obstetrics, six for the psychiatric ward, ten paediatric/adolescent beds, five burn beds and four beds for the high-dependency unit.
