PNM-Tobago’s First Woman Leader

Tra­cy David­son-Ce­les­tine will resign her position as Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambassador to Costa Rica to assume the leadership of the Tobago Council of the People’s National Movement (PNM).

This after she unseated the incumbent Kelvin Charles who is also the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).

With four contenders for the post, a run-off was required after the count in the controversial elections one week ago.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley was in Tobago for talks with all the contenders together, along with this country’s High Commissioner to the UK, Orville London who is a former Chief Secretary of the THA, as well.

 After the talks,  Denise Tsoi Afatt Angus and Joel Jack- the Secretary for Finance threw their support behind  Davidson- Celestine. Charles was officially unseated on Sunday the same day that the  PNM celebrated its 64th anniversary.

As the head of the Tobago Council of the PNM, Celestine is now well posted to become the  first woman  Chief Secretary on the island
