Point Fortin Borough Day Officially Postponed.

By Newsroom

Point Fortin Borough celebrations have been postponed just like the annual East Goat and Crab Race Festival in Tobago. This comes less than 24 hours after the first case of COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago was revealed by the Ministry of Health.

Point Fortin Mayor Kennedy Richards, said the activities carded for April 11- May 3rd has been cancelled, even though he knows it will affect several people and have a negative effect, economically, on the borough of Point Fortin.

Even though he announced a postponement a new date has not yet been announced.

In Tobago, the organizers of the Easter Goat and Crab Race Festival  said: “it is with profound disappointment and out of an abundance of caution, a decision has been made by the Executive & membership of the Buccoo Village Council, the proprietary owners of the Event  to postpone the 95th edition of this culturally rich event, to a date to be announced.”

“This comes about based on the Covid-19 virus status being upgraded to Pandemic level and the logistical complexities/risk/constraints associated with the hosting of large scale events of this magnitude,” Winston Perreira said in a news release.
