Point Fortin Man Charged with Murder and Gun Possession

A 38-year-old man appeared before a Point Fortin Magistrate after he was charged with the murder of Subrina Thomas, which occurred on February 13th, 2023.

AKIM LONDON, of Point Fortin, was also charged with Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition, when he appeared before Magistrate Alicia Chanka, in the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court, on Friday 24th March 2023.

The matter was adjourned to April 18th, 2023. Thomas, 45, of Aripero, was at the Point Fortin home of a relative on Monday 13th February 2023, when she was shot multiple times by a gunman who fled the scene.

According to the TTPS:

Investigations into the matter resulted in one male suspect being arrested by officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF) on March 14th, 2023.

Investigations were supervised by ASP Persad, Insp. Hosein and Sgts. Forbes and Smith, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.

London was charged with murder by PC Mathura, of the HBI Region Three and by PC Soogrim of the SWDTF, with Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

The charges were all laid on Thursday 23rd March 2023, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on that same date.
