Police have arrested three suspects and recovered one firearm and quantities of ammunition and drugs during several anti-crime exercises conducted across the country yesterday.
According to the TTPS, in the first incident, North Eastern Division Gang Investigations Unit officers conducted an exercise between 11 am and 1 pm, on Tuesday 9th January, 2024, in the Aranguez district.
During the exercise, officers arrested an 18-year-old man of Tunapuna for possession of one Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile, officers of the Pinto Police Post conducted an Operation Blue Line exercise yesterday, between 5 pm and 9 pm in the district, during which they proceeded to an abandoned apartment in the vicinity of Boodoo Avenue.
There, the officers conducted a search which resulted in the discovery of 119 packages containing 64 kilogrammes of marijuana. In the Northern Division, Area South, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 10 am and 2 pm, during which they stopped a silver Nissan Tiida motor vehicle with two male occupants in the Aranguez district.
A search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding four, 5-litre plastic bottles containing ecstasy.
Two men, ages 22 and 24 of Tobago were arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
